When searching for an establishment in Japan, copy and paste the words “ショーパブ” into the search box, then enter the name of the place where you are located after putting a space.
Hello, this is Kei!
Today, I am going to explain about 「SHOW CLUB(SHOW PUB)」 in Japan.
「SHOW CLUB」 and 「SHOW PUB」 mean the same thing, so I’ll use the term 「SHOW CLUB」here.
◆What is 「SHOW CLUB」?
「SHOW CLUB」 is a place where you can experience a variety of entertainment while enjoying delicious food and drinks. It’s also called a 「SHOW RESTAURANT & BAR」 and just so you’re not confused, it’s not the same as a “dinner show” at a hotel, and it’s not a “dining cinema” at a place like a movie theater.
The first time my boss took me to 「SHOW CLUB」, I was completely fascinated by the powerful performance by dozens of beautiful girls in a glittering space, and since then, I have been going to various 「SHOW CLUB」 for drinks. Every club has its own concept, and each has its own good points. What they also have in common is that the performers at all of them love to sing and dance. When I watch the show, I can feel it in my heart, and it makes me want to support them.
◆What is the kinds of 「SHOW CLUB」?
There are many types of 「SHOW CLUB」 in Japan, but I’ll only introduce the ones I’ve actually been to.
(1)Club where Japanese girls sing and dance
This is the most standard type of club where various songs and dances are performed, and there are clubs ranging from small ones that can seat only about 20 people to large ones that can accommodate nearly 100 people, with some of the larger ones having more than 100 female dancers by themselves.
(2)Club specializing in cocktail shows.
A flair show is a club where the bartender uses bottles and shakers to make and serve cocktails in an acrobatic performance in front of the customers. A bartender who possesses the skill of flare bartending is called a “flare bartender,” and the sight of a bottle dancing flamboyantly in front of you and being poured into a glass is truly impressive. There is even a club where a world champion is working.
(3)Club specializing in robot shows
The attraction of this club is the powerful show of giant robots dancing and fighting. Of course, there are also human performances such as singing, drama, and dancing, and the glittering and gorgeous interior is like a different world! I was surprised to see that more than 90% of the customers were foreigners. The famous club in Shinjuku cost more than 10 billion yen to build.
(4)Club with transsexual shows
A club where you can enjoy performances by beautiful transsexuals. The bewitching and dainty show by the dancers is a sight to behold, and the various show concepts such as kabuki, Japanese drumming, and oiran (courtesans) excite the audience.
(5)Club of illusion magic show
There are various kinds of magic clubs, from small clubs with only a counter to show standard magic using playing cards and coins, to clubs that spend hundreds of millions of yen to build a large stage set up to show flashy and dynamic illusions such as real human mutilation and levitation.
(6)Club of imitation shows
You can enjoy the high quality of the ” imitation” performed on stage. There is a wide range of shows, from the major ones that everyone knows to the minor ones that only a few people know about, so you will never get bored. There are also clubs where famous TV personalities perform.
(7)Club of flamenco shows
You don’t have to go all the way to Spain to enjoy a passionate, authentic flamenco show. The impressive flamenco steps and hand claps accompanied by the fiercely strummed guitar are a sight not to be missed! And don’t forget to try the authentic Spanish cuisine, especially the paella and ahijos, which I remember as being very tasty.
(8)Club of SM shows
A club where you can enjoy SM shows. You can see the show on the stage right in front of you, where the queen beats the masochist girl, who is tied up with ropes and hung from the ceiling, with whips and candles. Strangely enough, when I went there for the first time, I felt as if I was looking at a work of art rather than an “sexual” one.
There are many other types of clubs.
◆What is the price of 「SHOW CLUB」?
Next, I’m going to explain the prices, but there’s one thing I want you to be aware of. It’s just for reference. The reason is that there is a huge difference in price between small clubs and large clubs, and between rural and urban areas. It is a good idea to get a rough idea of what to expect and to see what kind of prices are offered. And when you finally decide on the club you want to go to, be sure to check out their website before you visit.
<Set price・Table charge・Entrance fee>
60 minutes (male): 500~10000 yen
60 minutes (female): 0~5000 yen
90 minutes (male): 2,000~25,000 yen
90 minutes (female): 0~20,000 yen
※There are set prices, table charges, entrance fees, etc., all of which vary from club to club, and some offer all-you-can-drink packages from the start, while others only include one drink. There are also clubs that have a “one-drink-order system” where you have to order at least one drink. What you should also be aware of is that if you think that just because it is 「SHOW CLUB」, you can see a show if you pay the set price, you are wrong. Some clubs may charge extra for the show.
<VIP Seat・VIP Room>
60 minutes: 2,000~3,000 yen
90 minutes: 5,000~50,000 yen
※Some clubs call the sofa seats “VIP seats”, others call the gorgeous glass-walled private rooms “VIP rooms”.
<Extension fee>
30 minutes: 1,000~10,000 yen
※There are clubs where one set is over after the show, and there are also clubs that offer unlimited time.
<Performance fee>
1,000~5,000yen
※This is also called “show charge” and is a fee for watching a show, but nowadays most clubs include it in the set price.
<Drink & Food>
Drink:800 yen~
Food:700 yen~
<Nomination fee>
1,000 yen~3,000 yen
※In 「SHOW CLUB」, unlike 「KYABAKURA」, even if you pick a girl, she won’t be next to you all the time to talk with you. Most of the girls are singers or dancers, so they leave their seats to get ready before the show starts.
<Accompany fee>
1,000 yen~
※When you go out for dinner or a date with your favorite girl before the club opens for business, and then go to work with her, it is called “accompany”.
<Tip>
1,000 yen~
※Tipping is a great thing to give to singers and dancers. Some clubs will ask you to give a special tip that can only be used at that club after exchanging cash for it, while others will let you just give cash.
<Service charge・TAX>
10%~40%
※Some clubs charge service charge and tax separately, but recently, more and more clubs are showing the total amount of tax and service charge to make it easier for customers to understand.
The types of fees charged are usually like this, but some clubs have various events that change on a daily basis, and there are also many special plans. For example, “All-you-can-drink & Buffet Course,” “Happy Hour,” “Dinner & Show Plan,” and “Ladies’ Plan (Girl’s Party Plan)” are all announced weekly by various clubs, so if you are interested in the club, check their website carefully. You may be able to save a lot of money. Also, if you make a reservation a week or so in advance, you can get a slightly lower price.
◆Where is 「SHOW CLUB」 at?
If you go to any of the entertainment districts in Japan, you will find a lot of small clubs that can be filled to capacity with 10 to 20 customers, but the number of large clubs is limited. Here, I’ll introduce only the places where I’ve been and enjoyed the large ones.
Hokkaido, Sapporo, Chuo-ku
Tokyo, Minato Ward, Roppongi
Tokyo Minato Ward Azabujuban
Tokyo Minato Ward Akasaka
Tokyo, Shinjuku-ku, Kabukicho
Tokyo, Chuo-ku, Ginza
Tokyo, Shinagawa-ku, Nishi-Gotanda
Tokyo, Toshima-ku, Tokyo
Tokyo, Japan Ota-ku, Kamata
Osaka, Osaka City, Kita-ku, Sonezaki Shinchi
Fukuoka, Fukoka City, Hakata-ku, Nakasu
◆What is the business hours of 「SHOW CLUB」?
Of course, the business hours vary depending on the target audience. Clubs that mainly target families and couples are open from 2:00 p.m., while clubs that target the second and third round of parties are open from 10:00 p.m. By the way, I checked the business hours of all 「SHOW CLUB」 and found out that the earliest ones open at 2 pm and the latest ones until 5 am the next morning. There is a lot of variation in the business hours, so if you find a place you want to visit, please check the website.
◆How many shows and how long are they?
As far as I know, clubs are two at the club with the least number of shows, and five at the club with the most. It depends on the show time and business hours, but if the club has long show times and short business hours, you can only do two shows, and if the club has short show times and long business hours, you can do five shows, or something like that. However, the most standard number of times is three, and the show time is 60 minutes, and in the case of three, there are three parts, one, two, and three, and you have to be in the club at least 30 minutes before the show starts. For example, if the show starts at 6:30 p.m., you have to be in the club by 6:00 p.m., 30 minutes before the show at the latest.
◆Summary
How was it guys?
Do you want to go to 「SHOW CLUB」 now?
It depends on which genre of 「SHOW CLUB」 you go to and for what purpose, but in my case, as long as I can find a singer or dancer I like, hit on her and take her home, that’s all that matters. I just feel that it is more difficult to hit on a girl who works in a 「SHOW CLUB」 than it is to hit on a girl in 「KYABAKURA」. Probably the reason for this is that these girls come to work because they like singing and dancing, not because they want to entertain guys and make them feel good while they spend money, like in 「KYABAKURA」 or 「CLUB」. They come to work because they like singing and dancing, not because they like men.
There are still a lot of things I struggle with, but lately I’ve gotten a few tips and tricks, so I thought I’d share them with you. Even if you can’t take her home on the day you meet her, don’t worry, just take your time.
So here we go, in order.
(1)Visit clubs as often as you can to make sure you are not forgotten.
Every day is scary because it sounds like a stalker, but once a month is not memorable. So try to visit as often as you can without being forgotten. I think three times a month is best. Also, try to avoid going on weekends. If the place is full and there’s a line, you won’t be able to talk with them.
(2)Tip randomly
If you tip, a girl will come and say hello to you and remember your name, which will bring you much closer. However, don’t always tip the same amount every time. If you give a tip of the same amount every time, it will make her think that you are the one who always gives a tip of the same amount. It’s better to have days when you give more, days when you give less, days when you don’t. “Why is the tip less today?” “Is there more tips today because I went to say hello before the show?” and so on. Let’s make her care about you more.
(3)Gradually increase the number of body touches.
At first, start with simple skin-to-skin contact, even a handshake. As you get to know each other better, try lightly patting her head or putting your hand on their waist. When she is no longer afraid of being touched, it’s time.
(4)How to ask her to get laid
As for the last part, don’t be too direct about your invitation. Girls want excuses like, “I didn’t mean to,” or “I just kind of got into that mood,” so you show them the pictures and say, “This room looks interesting, like Disneyland. Let’s go there” and invite her to the hotel. Or, if she likes pets, ask her if she’d like to come over to your house. The best time to ask her is when she is horny before her period, or when she is tipsy after a few drinks.
Well, good luck to everyone!
That was Kei!
